It started in the 80’s. My mentor, the late Carl Cestari, began researching the methods of WWII hand to hand combat. Carl was already a tough S.O.B. with black belts in judo, jujutsu and karate, former Ranger and cop – he dedicated his life to dealing with violence… and this is what lead him to WWII Combatives.

Carl was simply searching for the most effective and efficient means of self defense. He wasn’t trying to create a system or a style, he just wanted to SURVIVE…and that’s what I’m going to share with you today.

Over the next two decades, Carl became the authority on the subject of Defendu and all other systems that came out of this era. His reputation grew, so much in fact that in 2003 we decided to hold a seminar that specifically focused WWII Combatives.

It was the ONLY one Carl ever held and lucky for you we filmed it.

This seminar arguably “launched” the combatives underground movement. We had attendees from San Francisco to Sweden and from there the word spread.

Tragically, Carl passed away in 2007 after a long battle with cancer – but his teaching and his legacy live on, right here, right now. This is why the DEFENDU Package is so important.

In it, Carl details both the Fairbairn and O’Neill Systems. Plus, for good measure, I’ve added an old Close Combat Knife Video we shot in the basement of the infamous church.

Make no mistake – Carl was the REAL DEAL and there were very few like him…before or since.
