First, I want to show you exactly what NOT to do with a cane. Here is an “expert” on a news show demonstrating complicated and fancy moves on a compliant and submissive attacker.
NEVER sacrifice style for substance….EVER. Moves like this are what get martial artists beat up.
Now if you want to use a cane or walking stick for self defense, use a technique like this from the SDTS ELITE Membership
This particular combination features the two handed reverse grip.
This tactic can be a lot more devastating than swinging the club since its not perceived as an attack by your target and you can use it at an extremely close range.
There is no doubt that you can generate more hitting power at the end of a stick when you swing it, however if you miss or don’t cause enough damage to your target, you might not get another chance to “swing again.”
With these two-handed strikes you can strike REPEATEDLY and quickly cause injury to your target. Then after they’re injured, you can finish with swinging strikes.
Until next time….
